Recovering your body after holiday indulgences isn’t about strict diets or punishing workouts. Instead, it’s about taking a smart, gentle approach that restores your energy, lightness, and confidence. The editors of ELLE O’zbekiston share effective methods to help you ease back into your routine and start the new year feeling refreshed.

Rehydrate your body

After heavy holiday meals, your body is often dehydrated due to excess salt, sugar, and alcohol. Make sure to increase your water intake to at least 2–3 liters a day. For an added detox effect, enhance your water with slices of lemon or cucumber. Incorporate herbal teas with chamomile, mint, or rosehip into your daily routine, they help restore the body’s fluid balance.

Balance your diet

Getting back to a healthy diet is essential for recovery. Increase your intake of vegetables, especially green ones like broccoli, spinach, and celery. Add protein sources such as chicken, fish, eggs, and legumes. Gradually reduce your consumption of refined carbs, such as white bread and pasta. Also, limit sweets, fried foods, and fatty dishes.

Incorporate physical activity

Start with light activities, like walking outdoors, yoga, or stretching. After a couple of days, introduce cardio or strength training. Aim for regular workouts, about 3–4 times a week, and maintain consistency.

Try a detox day

Ideally, after all the festive eating, give your body a break with a detox day. There are many different detox programs available, find one that works best for you. Additionally, you can incorporate detox drinks into your daily routine to help ease the digestive system.

Restore your sleep routine

Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Avoid using gadgets an hour before bed. Taking a warm bath with sea salt or lavender oil before sleeping can help your body relax and improve the quality of your rest.

Give your skin extra care

After the holidays, your skin may appear tired and dull. Dedicate some extra time to skincare. Use gentle exfoliants or clay masks, followed by moisturizing creams or oils—especially if your skin is dry or sensitive.

Focus on a positive mindset

Don’t blame yourself for holiday indulgences - it’s perfectly normal! Set realistic recovery goals and find what motivates you, whether it’s feeling lighter, boosting your energy, or simply feeling better overall. The key is not to rush and expect immediate results. Consistency and moderation will help you gently and effectively bring your body back into shape.
