Exhibition at the Alaïa foundation
The Alaïa Foundation in Paris has unveiled a joint exhibition in collaboration with Mugler, titled Azzedine Alaïa Thierry Mugler 1980/1990. The exhibition explores the evolution of the friendship between Azzedine Alaïa and Thierry Mugler, which began in 1979.
Mugler invited Alaïa to collaborate on costume design for his Fall/Winter collection, an experience that inspired Alaïa to launch his own label – a decision Mugler wholeheartedly supported. The pivotal moment came in 1982, when Alaïa showcased his first independent collection at Bergdorf Goodman, marking the official start of the Alaïa brand.
The exhibition showcases approximately 120 pieces, including 40 designs by Mugler and 72 by Alaïa.
