A new milestone for the Tashkent Metro

For the first time ever, women have begun working as train operators in the Tashkent Metro. The initiative to recruit a female group of operators was launched last year at the directive of the President of Uzbekistan. Applicants were selected from among those already working within various departments of the metro system. After interviews, medical evaluations, and psychological assessments, 16 women were accepted into the program. For 11 months, the new recruits underwent intensive training, studying everything from train operations and technical systems to pneumatic equipment.
Currently, the women are operating trains under the guidance of mentors, with plans to begin independent operations in the nearest future.
