Fashion meditation at Balenciaga’s fall-winter 2024 couture show
Forget formalities

At Paris Fashion Week, Balenciaga held a couture show where Demna Gvasalia redefined the traditional concept of haute couture.
Guests were invited to meditate, feel the fresh air, and absorb positive energy before witnessing a collection that could be divided into two parts: informal and couture.
The first part included jeans, oversized T-shirts, voluminous puffer jackets, tracksuits, and other elements from ready-to-wear collections. These were paired with feathered hats and opera gloves. Some looks were complemented by butterfly masks.
The second part showcased elements of high fashion. Evening gowns were "knit" from colorful long-sleeves and hoodies, jeans were fashioned to resemble bustier dresses, and black nylon wrapped around models evoked Cristóbal Balenciaga's gazar. As accessories, all models carried numbered bags.
