Alaïa unveils Spring-Summer 2025 collection
The show took place during New York Fashion Week
Pieter Mulier presented Alaïa’s latest collection at the Guggenheim Museum, marking the first-ever fashion show held in one of the most iconic buildings designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The spring-summer collection embodied the essence of the Guggenheim’s space — the curves of Alaïa’s designs echoed the architecture of the museum. For the brand, America serves as a crucial booster that played a significant role in the development of Azzedine Alaïa’s legacy.
Mulier approached the creation of the collection’s elements using engineering techniques: micro-pleated dresses “snapped” onto the body, mimicking the fit of a bracelet.
Bandeau tops and sporty trousers paid homage to the work of Roy Halston from the 1970s. Charles James inspired Mulier’s quilted jackets, while Cecil Beaton’s photographs of evening gowns influenced the pale pastel taffeta tracksuits.
Heeled flip-flops, earrings that transform into necklaces, and bags worn either on the back or around the waist will be key pieces for the spring-summer 2025 season.
