Back to the Future
This season, eyelashes take center stage in makeup. Inspired by retro-futurism, makeup artists are offering looks in the modern art style
Makeup as art—pop art, along with the mood, colors, and forms of the ’70s and ’80s, is more relevant than ever. Vivid metallic, plasticized, and sculpted lashes will make you an unforgettable star.
Vibes of the ’70s
Soft blue and powder pink makeup, along with light golden blonde hair, are accentuated by a bold choice—lashes in magenta. This trendy fall color takes on a fresh sound against a backdrop of pastel shades.
A new look
Enhance the expressiveness of your gaze using traditional techniques and products, adding a bright accent to classic styles. Makeup artists have focused on natural and warm tones for the eyes, using beige eyeshadow from L.O.V. Cosmetics and mascara from Saint Laurent. Red dots on the lower lash line were created with a lip liner from Make Up Forever.
Playing with shapes
Graphic inspiration—In this look, the heart-shaped hair styling echoes the dramatic curve of the lashes. It’s a look to admire and consider for your next photoshoot.
Remembering Andy
On smooth, flawless skin, the pop art effect in the style of Andy Warhol is created using colorful eyeshadows. This season, we’re allowed to turn our makeup into a work of art. Apply pigments of various colors on the upper and lower eyelids, add false lashes, and go out to conquer the world.
Contrasting elements
Makeup artists suggest moving far away from the traditional methods of making your eyes pop. Arm yourself with opaque, dense-textured eyeshadows and apply contrasting mascara: a wow effect is guaranteed!
Challenging the norms
Step outside the boundaries of traditional forms to achieve a 3D effect: makeup artists used black eyeliner to draw a thin wing, adding fuchsia on the upper line. Voluminous lashes intensified the impact. If you’re planning to replicate this look, don’t forget about the “neutral background”—a foundation and lipstick that match your skin tone.
