Cannes Film Festival 2025
It all begins tomorrow

The 78th Cannes Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, and here are the key highlights you need to know about this major cinematic event:
- The festival will run from May 13 to May 24. The opening film will be “Leave One Day” by Amélie Bonnin.
- Robert De Niro will receive the Honorary Palme d’Or during the opening ceremony for his lifetime achievements.
- The jury will be headed by Juliette Binoche and includes Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, Payal Kapadia, Alba Rohrwacher, Leïla Slimani, Dieudo Hamadi, Hong Sang-soo, and Carlos Reygadas.
- Films competing for the Palme d'Or include: “Eddington” by Ari Aster (dark comedy), “The Phoenician Scheme” by Wes Anderson (spy thriller), “Sentimental Value” by Joachim Trier (drama), “Nouvelle Vague” (New Wave) by Richard Linklater, and “Alpha” by Julia Ducournau
- The Un Certain Regard section will feature “Eleanor the Great” – Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, “Urchin” by Harris Dickinson, “The Chronology of Water” by Kristen Stewart, and “Meteors” by Hubert Charuel
