Finding yourself: inspiring stories of CAU students on choosing a career path

Choosing the right university is one of the most crucial steps toward education and a successful career. It builds the foundation for professional growth, helps unveil hidden talents, and brings students closer to their dreams.

In partnership with Central Asian University, ELLE Oʻzbekiston shares the stories of three talented students, each following a unique path. They represent various fields, from music to medicine, but are united by determination, persistence, and the drive to overcome challenges in pursuit of success.

Farida Rahmanberdieva

Farida ranks among the top three students at the Faculty of Dentistry. A perfect blend of academic knowledge, practical experience, a global network of contacts, and the support of Central Asian University enables her to share her scientific knowledge beyond the university and the country. Farida participated in Research Month in Dubai and presented her work in India, where she earned a bronze medal, competing against over 600 students from different countries.

While studying in her third year, Farida managed to teach English online for a year. The School of Dentistry at Central Asian University strives to train qualified doctors with deep knowledge, outstanding skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

«Most of CAU’s professors are foreigners with extensive experience and foreign education. Undoubtedly, this helps us become successful professionals. The university provides opportunities for international travel, covering all expenses as long as we demonstrate achievements, hard work, effort, and good academic performance».

Umida Ibragimova

Halfway through her journey at the CAU School of Dentistry, Umida has already become Head of Education and Social Welfare at the Student Council. In 2024, she was named Best Student and was invited to attend a conference in Kazakhstan. Umida has helped foster communication between students and faculty, led teams, organized study groups and academic support sessions, and coordinated volunteer efforts and community projects.

«The guidance of the dean and professors creates a unique atmosphere where each of us can unlock our potential and confidently move toward our goals.

The high level of competition and education allowed me to become a member of the Student Council and rank among the top ten students while studying on a scholarship. To stand out among peers, one must strive for success in all aspects of life, participating in conferences, volunteer projects, maintaining good relationships with professors, learning English, helping younger students, and sharing experiences».

During her active involvement, Umida developed and implemented strategies to improve student welfare and educational experiences. She was awarded certificates for her engagement in university life and active contributions to the School of Dentistry.

«My dream is to become a highly qualified doctor and contribute to the development of dentistry in Uzbekistan. CAU taught me to dream big, so I aim to continue my studies abroad and eventually return to make a meaningful impact on the evolution of dentistry in my country».

Lazizakhon Rahimova

A third-year student at the CAU Medical School, Lazizakhon actively balances her studies with practical work and participation in various projects.

«Since childhood, my mother has always been my guiding compass, and thanks to her, I decided to dedicate my life to medicine, just as she once did. At CAU, my journey to becoming a doctor is not only about knowledge and practice but also about countless opportunities for growth and development in different fields. One of these opportunities is my involvement in the CAU Diagnostics laboratory project. This initiative, aimed at improving healthcare in Uzbekistan, provides a chance to gain deeper insights into the country’s medical system and contribute to its development and improvement of diagnostics.

Studying at CAU was a conscious choice that gave me the platform to express myself and grow in the medical field».

The academic program at CAU inspires students to enjoy the learning process and achieve success both inside and outside the university. For instance, Lazizakhon has participated in medical congresses, conferences, and charitable projects.

«At CAU, I found like-minded peers. Together with fellow students, we launched a charitable project called Hikmah Charity (Triumph Fund) to support underprivileged patients in hospitals».

The university encourages students to take part in international congresses, forums, and charitable initiatives, helping them not only accumulate professional knowledge but also develop empathy and a sense of responsibility for people’s well-being. This approach nurtures not just competent specialists but also compassionate professionals dedicated to their calling.

Marjona Khujanova

Marjona, a third-year student at the Faculty of PR & Media Management, combines her studies with a thriving music career. She founded the university’s music club, released solo tracks, and performed at major venues, including the Palace of Friendship of Peoples, Humo Arena, and the Alpomish Ice Palace.

During this time, Marjona also collaborated with artist Konsta and his team, performing her track at his solo concert.

«Everything we have now - our recording studio, producers, and vocal coach is thanks to the university’s support. When I started taking the initiative and performing at small events, the university administration noticed and decided to support me. The greatest advantage is that when they see a spark in a student, they never extinguish it. Now, I already have the opportunity to earn money without skipping classes, though balancing studies and creativity is no easy task», – shares Marjona.

Marjona’s confidence in her ability to succeed in her field helped her take on roles in organizing major CAU and Edvent events without formal music education. The key to choosing her path lies in seeking opportunities to bring ideas to life.

«No matter how far I drift from creativity, it always finds me. Being on stage gives me a sense of freedom and immense energy. I dream of becoming a role model for the next generation, setting a new standard in the world of music and business, and simply being a source of pride for myself and those who support me».
