The "Central Asia: At the Crossroads" festival, organized by researchers with the support of the Free University of Berlin, will showcase short films about the region. Film submissions are currently open and ongoing.

The program will cover key themes, including gender roles, cultural heritage, environmental challenges, and the legacy of the Soviet past. The festival’s goal is to foster dialogue, discussion, and live performances that offer a deeper understanding of the forces shaping modern Central Asia.

Films up to 35 minutes in any format – documentary, animation, experimental, and others – are accepted. One key requirement is that all submissions must include English subtitles. Entries are open to filmmakers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and the Uyghur region of China.
