JOALI Maldives Resort
The first and only hotel on the island with a private collection of contemporary art
JOALI Maldives stands out as the first and only resort in the Maldives to feature a private collection of contemporary art. The resort showcases exhibitions from 13 artists and designers from around the world, with each piece seamlessly blending into the natural surroundings.
Nature-focused design
Located just a 45-minute seaplane flight from Malé International Airport, JOALI Maldives offers guests 73 villas, two residences, a private beach, restaurants and bars, spa facilities, a library, and a boutique. The resort’s refined design and architecture are the work of the renowned Istanbul-based studio Autoban. The interiors feature wooden panels, locally sourced timber, bamboo, and terrazzo, creating an ambiance reminiscent of tropical jungles that harmonize with the island's lush flora.
JOALI Maldives also boasts an organic garden where healing herbs are grown for spa treatments. The resort emphasizes eco-luxury; guests are encouraged to participate in local conservation projects, and all plastic used on the property is recycled.
Art in every detail
JOALI Maldives embodies the philosophy of "Joie de vivre," living and savoring each moment. Every corner and detail of the resort is a work of art in itself. To enhance the guest experience, the resort provides an art map that introduces the artists and describes their works displayed across the property.
Treehouses and crane chairs
These art pieces were crafted by South African designer Porky Hefer from Cape Town. The grey heron, the national bird of the Maldives, serves as a mascot for JOALI and is represented in these designs.
Maldives Vibes sculpture
Young Israeli artist Zemer Peled draws inspiration from the vibrant and diverse underwater world of the Maldives. Her work highlights the pressing issue of coral bleaching that affects this region.
Tapestries of natural materials
South Korean artist Sujin Kang created intricate tapestries using only natural materials. The long threads of these tapestries elegantly adorn the bedrooms of the resort's beach villas, adding a special charm.
Ceramic mini-stools
The mini-stools, crafted by Venezuelan artist Reynaldo Sanguino, are made from clay sourced from the rivers of the Guiana Highlands. These stools draw inspiration from the majestic peaks of Venezuela’s Tepui mountains and the graceful curves of hourglasses.
