Poetry evening “Izdoshlik” with Teach for Uzbekistan

An evening filled with poetry and soulful unity

Teach for Uzbekistan is not only about education. It is about culture, about literature, about poetry.

Poetry! It was poetry that brought a small audience together on the evening of June 17.

Someone canceled an important meeting. Someone rushed out of work, glancing at the clock - will I make it in time?

Among the guests, it was impossible not to notice a delicate figure in a satin dress, behind which hid strength – a nurse, in love with poetry. Only love for verse could have brought her here even after a long, exhausting workday.

Because poetry isn’t about free time. It’s about an inner need to be closer to words, to feelings, to oneself.Guests enjoyed the live recitation of poems by invited poets – Erkin Bozorov, Bek Ali, and Dadakhon Muhammadiev. The atmosphere was warm and intimate: everyone had the chance not only to ask questions to these masters of language, but also to read aloud their favorite poems, whether classics or their own verses.

Teach for Uzbekistan inspires a new generation – happy, compassionate, and adaptive individuals, committed to lifelong learning, with strong moral values, resilience, and the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This project follows in the footsteps of the great Jadids – enlightened reformers who saw education not merely as knowledge, but as a key to the future of an entire nation.

The Teach for Uzbekistan team believes in a society where education fosters not only academic excellence but also empathy, a culture of collaboration, and a genuine drive to improve the well-being of the community. The mission and achievements of the project were shared by its founder, Umida Yuldosheva. Her boundless faith in the power of education as a tool for positive transformation inspired everyone present.

The guests didn’t just leave the evening inspired – each of them seemed to have touched something deeply personal and real, but also filled with the power of the muse, whispering about change in the education system, belief in oneself, and the strength of the word. And though the evening came to an end, its aftertaste will remain with the guests – like a quiet voice calling them to new lines, new thoughts, and new actions.
