Clothes beyond context

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons unveiled a collection that deliberately rejects the traditional purpose and function of clothing. The show opened with uniform-inspired looks: short-sleeved shirts, pleated trousers, elbow-length gloves, and shiny low-heeled shoes. Bra tops were reduced to chiffon ribbons, while skirts became transparent cylinders suspended on delicate straps. Polo shirts with emblems were scaled up and transformed into structured coats or flared cardigans. Cocktail dresses with embellished collars were styled as everyday pieces layered over leather jackets. The color palette was bold and expressive: a mandarin-gloss runway, a striking yellow jacket, and richly saturated tones across shirts and dresses.

“We talked a lot about freedom, but also freedom in the way you think about getting dressed,” said Simons. Prada added, “The collection is about reacting to the uncertain – clothes that can shift, change, adapt.” The show became a visual response to an anxious reality and an attempt to preserve a sense of beauty.
