Serafim Dim’s first solo exhibition
“AJDAHO – the guardian of craft”

At Regeneration Art Gallery, on September 18 at 7:00 PM, the closed-format opening of AJDAHO – the debut project of artist Serafim Dim – will take place. Starting September 19, the exhibition will be open to the public. At the heart of this artistic cycle is the image of the hushtak – a clay whistle-toy in the shape of an animal or fantastical creature. The hushtak traces back to deep antiquity and is tied to spring rituals, the celebration of Navruz, and myths of the earth’s awakening. It was believed that its whistle could summon rain, drive away evil forces, and call upon the benevolent spirits of spring. A central role in the exhibition is played by the image of the Ajdaho – a mythological dragon, guardian of the water element and patron of artisans. In Serafim’s interpretation, it becomes the spirit of craftsmanship, a personified force that guides the hand of the maker, breathes life into clay, and helps preserve both form and meaning. The works of Serafim Dim are illustrations of myths and states of being, in which the creation of a toy turns into a sacred ritual of continuity. The hushtak becomes the voice of the ancestors, while the spirit of the Ajdaho emerges as the guardian of tradition – a tradition not confined to a museum, but alive in the hands of people, in the breath instilled into form.
