Warming autumn drinks
Four warming beverages to help you beat the "autumn blues"
As autumn arrives, many of us experience seasonal blues and a drop in energy. During such times, warming drinks can come to the rescue. It’s also essential to include more immunity-boosting ingredients in your diet.
Golden milk (turmeric milk)
Golden milk is the perfect remedy for chilly and damp weather. This drink boasts numerous health benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. All you need is a blend of turmeric, milk, maple syrup (or honey), cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper. This soothing drink is ideal before bedtime, and it tastes divine!
Ingredients:
- 0.5 liters of milk
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Optional:
- ½ tbsp coconut oil
- Additional spices or flavorings: ginger, cardamom, or vanilla extract.
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, heat over medium heat, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes on low heat to allow the flavors to blend.
Sea Buckthorn Tea
Sea buckthorn tea is a popular autumn-winter drink, rich in antioxidants and vitamins. This flavorful beverage supports heart health and boosts the immune system. Thanks to its high vitamin C content, sea buckthorn promotes collagen production, helping to keep skin healthy, elastic, and naturally radiant. It also helps reduce skin irritation, redness, and itchiness while aiding in healing.
How to brew sea buckthorn tea:
Mash 150 grams of berries (using a mortar is ideal). Add two tablespoons of black (non-flavored) tea and two cinnamon sticks. Pour boiling water over the mixture and steep for 5-6 minutes. Serve the tea with honey. Since honey loses its beneficial properties at high temperatures, it’s best to add it just before serving.
Hot Chocolate with Nuts
Ingredients:
- 250 ml milk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 50 g chocolate
- 50 g nuts
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
Grind the nuts and mix them with cocoa powder and sugar. Pour the milk into a small saucepan, heat it, and add the chocolate pieces. Once the chocolate has melted completely, add the cocoa-nut mixture and simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and enjoy!
Hot Matcha Tea
Traditional preparation of matcha tea involves specific tools. You’ll need matcha powder, a special bowl or cup, a bamboo whisk, a teaspoon, and hot water.
Sift three teaspoons of matcha powder into the bowl or cup.
Use spring or filtered water if possible. Add a little hot water (around 75-80°C) to form a paste.
Next, add more hot water and whisk the matcha in quick, circular motions until foam forms.
Enjoy your warm, energizing matcha!
