Willem Dafoe to receive the honorary “Heart of Sarajevo”

Actor Willem Dafoe to receive the honorary “Heart of Sarajevo” award at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, taking place from August 15 to 22, 2025. The award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the art of cinema. Dafoe returns to the festival after a 25-year absence. As part of the program, he will host a masterclass, where he will share his experience, views on contemporary art, and inspire young filmmakers and audiences.

According to festival director Jovan Marjanović, “His body of work is something to which every actor aspires.”
