Celebrating one year of growth and achievements

Women in Tech is a global organization supported by the President of France, focused on four pillars: education, business, digital inclusion, and advocacy.

Its mission is to educate, equip, and empower women and girls, providing them with the skills and confidence to thrive in STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).

Women in Tech (WIT) chapters operate in 60 countries worldwide and bring together more than 500,000 members. Women in Tech Global organizes annual international awards and summits.

On March 2, 2024, a historic milestone was reached: the launch of the first Women in Tech chapter in Central Asia – in Uzbekistan. The chapter was founded by Anna Ambrozevich, a leader with 15 years of experience in MarTech. The Advisory Board includes Kamola Shavkatovna Sobirova, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and other major players in the country’s tech landscape.

Today, the team includes 30 volunteers aged 16 to 40, and the community has grown to more than 4,000 members.

In just one year, Women In Tech Uzbekistan has hosted over 40 events on topics ranging from cybersecurity, Data Science, and FemTech to Digital Marketing and conflict management. These events featured expert women from across STEAM fields in Uzbekistan and beyond.

One of the key projects was the Women In Tech Talks series, in which the organization held meetings with female representatives of leading companies directly in their offices. Participants had the chance to hear real career stories, ask questions, and gain a unique opportunity to experience the company from the inside. This format not only inspires but also helps to better understand corporate culture and career prospects. Over the past year, such visits have already taken place at the offices of Click, FIDO-Biznes, TBC, and Group-IB.

On a global scale, the team engages in educational programs like blockchain training through Cardano Academy and online MBA courses with the European Business Institute of Luxembourg.

Locally, the chapter partners with universities and tech hubs. In collaboration with New Uzbekistan University and Apple, a new iOS development training program is being launched for Women in Tech Uzbekistan participants. The team is also rolling out a University Ambassador Program, where students promote STEAM awareness and share career opportunities with their peers.

This past year, the Uzbekistan team sent delegates to the Women in Tech Global Summit in Paris, where they presented the short film Ayol Aoli, created in partnership with UZINFOCOM.

In April 2025, a new delegation will travel to Osaka, Japan for the next Global Summit. Applications are still open for those who wish to join the official Uzbekistan delegation.

In 2024, Tashkent hosted the regional Women in Tech Caucasus & Central Asia Awards ceremony for the first time. Among the finalists were 11 inspiring women from Uzbekistan, three of whom won in their respective categories.

Another significant milestone was the introduction of the global #IAmRemarkable initiative by Google in Uzbekistan, brought by Women In Tech Uzbekistan. The team includes two official facilitators — Natalya Nee and Julia Sevruk, who conduct both online and offline workshops for anyone interested.

These are intimate sessions held in a safe space, where women and girls learn to proudly speak about their achievements, celebrate success, and recognize their worth. The format became so popular that companies started reaching out to request custom workshops for their teams.

Women In Tech Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the IT Community of Uzbekistan, launched a nationwide Roadshow – a large-scale project covering 14 regions across the country. The team travels around Uzbekistan, sharing knowledge, meeting aspiring tech professionals, and opening up new horizons in the tech world for women and girls. So far, they have visited Almalyk, Gulistan, Fergana, Kokand, Jizzakh, Namangan, Andijan, and Bekabad.

This year also marked the signing of nine strategic memorandums with business partners, reinforcing support for women in technology. A particularly meaningful moment was when Ayumi Moore Aoki, the Founder and CEO of Women in Tech, personally signed the agreements in Tashkent.

Following the launch of the Uzbekistan chapter, the Women in Tech community expanded in the region, with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan joining the movement. The Uzbekistan team maintains close ties and proudly took part in the launch of their neighboring chapters.

Women in Tech Uzbekistan says this is only the beginning. This first year was just Chapter One – and the next chapters will be even bigger. We grow together!
