Demna Gvasalia was awarded the title Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters
Award presented by France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati
Since 1957, the Order of Arts and Letters has been awarded to individuals for their achievements in the fields of art or literature or for their contributions to the dissemination of culture in France and around the world. This year, Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia received the honor, supported by French actress Isabelle Huppert:
“For Demna, fashion is not just an industry, it’s a way to convey ideas, emotions, and identity. His creations are much more than clothing; they are stories that begin with his own,” Huppert said during her ceremonial speech.
The moment was captured by Renata Litvinova, who shared the occasion on Instagram with the caption: “Perhaps for the first time, the Order of Arts was pinned to a ripped T-shirt. A disruptor who has turned the fashion world upside down could be no different.”
