Margot Robbie explores the making of Chanel N°5 in a new film
The actress joins perfumer Olivier Polge in Grasse to discuss flowers, craftsmanship and the emotional power of fragrance.
Chanel has unveiled a short film featuring Margot Robbie and the house’s perfumer, Olivier Polge. Timed to the jasmine harvest, its episodes take viewers to the flower fields of Grasse in southern France, offering a closer look at the work behind Chanel N°5.
The film highlights the house’s relationship with the Mul family, now in its fifth generation of flower growing. Rose and jasmine play an important role in the fragrance’s composition, and harvesting them calls for careful work by hand.

In conversation with Polge, Robbie draws a connection between acting and perfumery: both tell stories through emotion. She also shares her habit of choosing a different fragrance for each character she plays.
The film approaches N°5 through the people who sustain its story. Growing flowers, composing a fragrance and the personal memories a scent can evoke become parts of the same narrative.
