How to wear denim in 2024
Designers have given it a second wind
A modern wardrobe is hard to imagine without at least one pair of jeans. Wide, low-rise, asymmetrical cuts, and unique details such as faux exposed underwear – brands offer a wide variety of styles.
Jeans have long become an element of evening wear. They can be styled not only with the usual sneakers and t-shirts but also with delicate blouses, high-heeled sandals, or kitten-heels.
The spring-summer 2024 fashion shows featured numerous total-denim looks: "Canadian tuxedos" of shirts and straight-cut pants, jackets, and Bermuda shorts. High-rise styles have been replaced by low-rise ones, and skinny jeans have made way for wide baggy models, which now often feature creases.
In one of his latest collections for Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli reimagined classic denim by creating floral imitations out of it. Schiaparelli showcased vests, jackets, and wide pants made of pristine white denim, all adorned with golden hardware. Speaking of color, denim can be anything: thick or thin, classic blue, deep indigo, or bleached.
Designers are breathing new life into denim, allowing it to become a stylish statement for the spring-summer 2024 season.
