The ESPYS Awards, presented annually by American sports network ESPN, honor outstanding achievements by athletes, teams, and iconic moments in sports. This year’s ceremony was held in Los Angeles, bringing together the season’s biggest stars – from Olympic champions to football and basketball icons. Awards were given not only for performance on the field but also for resilience, dedication, and cultural impact.
Here are the categories and winners:
Best Athlete – Men’s Sports – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Oklahoma City Thunder
Best Athlete – Women’s Sports – Simone Biles received the award, as well as the honor for Best Championship Performance, following her stunning comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Best Play – Saquon Barkley was recognized for his incredible hurdle over a defender during the November 3, 2024 game
Best Team – Philadelphia Eagles
Best WNBA Player – Caitlin Clark
Honorary Awards – Diana Taurasi and Alex Morgan were presented with the Icon Award, while NBA legend Oscar Robertson received the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.
