The most talked-about Bvlgari bag of the new season was born half a century ago. The Melone clutch, originally conceived in the 1970s, returns from the Bvlgari archives this October to take centre stage in the new collection.

The idea is disarmingly simple. Its ribbed silhouette echoes the shape of a melon, long associated with prosperity, abundance and vitality. Here, however, the fruit’s skin is reinterpreted in pleated gold-finished aluminium, complemented by soft, rounded lines and a clasp in white mother-of-pearl. The clutch opens into two perfectly symmetrical halves, lined in delicate nappa leather. It comes with two silk tassels, one in black and the other in ivory, while twelve additional shades can be ordered separately, allowing the bag to be personalised. Rather than simply replicating the past, Melone creates a "bridge" between eras, effortlessly blurring the line between an accessory and a collectible object.

But Bvlgari’s Spring-Summer 2027 collection goes far beyond Melone. The new Serpenti 1968 is rooted in a design originally created by Mary Katrantzou in 2021, during her very first collaboration with Bvlgari, long before she became the Maison’s Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories. Its sculptural handle follows the curve of a serpent’s body, while the snake-head clasp is secured by a magnet. Remove the handle and replace it with the bold Cobra chain, and the elegant top-handle bag instantly transforms into a striking shoulder style. The colour palette is equally sophisticated: Chalcedony Blue, Almandine Garnet, Perla White and classic black. Joining it is the Serpenti Cuore 1968, defined by a heart-shaped silhouette and a handle embellished with enamel in five shades, alongside the tiny Cuoricino, which will receive a satin version in May, adorned with more than 4,300 Swarovski crystals.

Serpenti Forever introduces two new silhouettes — one more architectural, the other elongated — while Pure Karung leather takes centre stage in delicate pastel tones. Bvlgari treats the precious material with the same meticulous care traditionally reserved for gemstones. The Tubogas Sphere bag returns in a deep garnet hue, featuring a spiral handle and spherical tips that appear to have been lifted directly from the Maison’s 1970s jewellery collections.

Arriving in November, Galaxy Crystals transforms the Serpenti Forever mini bag into a dazzling statement piece, covered with more than 15,000 crystals in 28 colours. Around 1,900 of them are applied by Bvlgari’s "mani intelligenti" — skilled artisans who embellish the finished bag by hand. Meanwhile, the Lotus Garden Embroidery, featuring leaves, branches and blooming calla lilies, requires fifteen days of craftsmanship and approximately 600 metres of thread for the finishing of a single piece.
