Seeing Savitsky anew: a multimedia exhibition opens in Tashkent
Painting, music, light and movement come together in Savitsky’s Diaries: Old and New
Central Asian art moves beyond the canvas at Savitsky’s Diaries: Old and New, a multimedia exhibition now open at Tashkent City Mall. Organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) and curated by Aziza Izamova, the project offers a fresh perspective on the region’s artistic heritage.
Painting meets music, light and movement in a format that introduces Igor Savitsky’s collection through visual storytelling. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the connections between 20th-century Central Asian artistic traditions and the present day.
At its heart is the life and legacy of Savitsky, the artist, collector and founder of the art museum in Nukus. The exhibition offers a chance to learn more about the man who devoted his life to preserving works of art, and to rediscover the collection he assembled.
The exhibition opened on 24 October and runs until 24 January 2027 on the second floor of Tashkent City Mall. Tickets are available through iTicket.
