As the first chill sets in, the urge to throw something warm and cozy over your shoulders kicks in — and that's where cardigans come to the rescue. This season, both oversized and fitted models are trending.

Investing in oversized cardigans in neutral shades like beige, light brown, grey, and black, as seen in the Ferragamo collection, will be a wardrobe staple. These versatile options are perfect for office and school looks. They can also be layered into relaxed, casual outfits or worn over a form-fitting knit dress.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons suggest wearing cardigans as outer layers, making thicker materials with wool blends especially relevant. Prada’s collection showcases double-breasted styles paired with voluminous skirts and shirts.

Stella McCartney features fitted cardigans worn under oversized jackets with broad shoulders. Thin-knit cardigans can also be paired with staple pieces like cotton t-shirts or long sleeves. Alternatively, wear them directly on bare skin, layering several cardigans in matching or contrasting colors and textures. Jil Sander styles them with thick knit skirts, while Gucci pairs them with matching shorts.
