If you think museums are just exhibits on shelves and walls, it’s time to rethink that. The editors of ELLE O’zbekiston have created a selection of the most astonishing museums around the world that reveal new dimensions of art and science.

Museum of the Future in Dubai, UAE

This is a space where you can imagine what the world might look like in 50 years. Opened in 2022, Dubai’s Museum of the Future became a landmark project for the city, showcasing how cutting-edge technology can transform our lives. Here, you can explore the future of artificial intelligence, space exploration, medicine, and environmental science.

The building itself is a work of art. Its façade is adorned with Arabic calligraphy featuring quotes by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It emphasizes that the future is not something we wait for – it’s something we create today.

MUSA Underwater Museum of Art in Cancun, Mexico

Imagine a museum located right on the ocean floor. That’s exactly the case with the underwater museum in Cancun, situated in the Caribbean Sea and featuring more than 400 sculptures, artistically placed among coral reefs. These works contribute to marine ecosystem restoration, offering refuge to fish, lobsters, and other sea life.

There are several ways to visit the museum: you can dive with scuba gear or snorkel, and for those who prefer to stay out of the water, there’s a glass-bottom boat tour available – offering a clear view of the underwater exhibits and marine life.

Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia

This museum collects items left behind after breakups: letters, toys, and even wedding dresses. Each object comes with a story explaining how and why a relationship ended. It’s a reflective space that delves into love, its complexities, and what remains in its wake.

The museum was founded after the breakup of two Zagreb-based artists, Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić. They began collecting items left behind after their separation and later invited others to share their own stories. This gave rise to a growing collection that continues to expand every year with new exhibits and personal narratives. Here, you’ll find not only funny and touching objects but also items that evoke sadness and memories of failed relationships.

National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) in Doha

Shaped like a “Desert Rose”, a natural formation found in the Persian Gulf, this museum is a masterpiece of architecture. Jean Nouvel spent ten years creating the structure, which exceeded all expectations. Composed of massive, mirrored disks, the museum features exhibitions that explore Qatar’s past, present, and future across 11 immersive galleries showcasing both local and international works.

Museum of the Holy Souls in Rome, Italy

Located in the sacristy of the Chiesa del Sacro Cuore del Suffragio, this museum is a must for anyone intrigued by mysticism and the supernatural. It houses eerie objects believed by the faithful to bear marks left by souls in Purgatory – handprints on books, imprints on clothing, and more, each artifact steeped in mystery and otherworldly lore.

Beyond its ghostly contents, the church itself is a stunning example of neo-Gothic architecture, adding to the experience.

Institute of the Sun in Parkent, Uzbekistan

This is one of only two such museums in the world, and its scientific achievements are truly impressive. It features a giant solar furnace that collects sunlight using mirrors and heats materials to several thousand degrees. This powerful device allows scientists to explore the immense energy of the sun, while the museum itself showcases models and experiments related to solar power.

The museum is considered a center for solar energy research and is an ideal destination for anyone interested in seeing how science can harness the forces of nature.
