Maison Margiela announces its new creative director
Glenn Martens takes the helm
Belgian designer Glenn Martens began his career in the fashion industry in 2008 at Jean Paul Gaultier. In 2013, he took over as creative director of Y/Project, where he worked until September 2024. Martens has also received the ANDAM award for his innovative cuts and experimental approach to fashion.
Commenting on the appointment, Renzo Rosso, chairman of the OTB Group, said: "I have worked with Glenn for many years, I’ve seen his talent, and I know what he is capable of. After Martin, who created the house and the unique Artisanal line, and John, who made it the world’s most avant-garde haute couture house, I am proud that we now have our third couturier. Glenn, who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, just like Martin, has already demonstrated his strength and vision in couture."
Glenn is expected to continue as creative director at Diesel, which is also owned by OTB.
