Serious choice: maxi or mini
Stylish combinations of two lengths
In the summer season of 2024, mini and maxi lengths are not competing for the top spot—they proudly share it. ELLE has gathered the latest ways to incorporate these lengths into your wardrobe.
Mini
Designers have significantly shortened skirts and dresses. Following the return of low-rise skirts, the "hipster" style Indie Sleaze has made a comeback. Button-front minis are particularly popular. Your wardrobe can also include pleated skirts, straight skirts made from dense fabrics, or voluminous balloon skirts. Pair them with more reserved tops: long sleeves, polos, suit vests, oversized shirts or T-shirts.
Short skirts are best worn with sneakers, ballet flats, or flat slingbacks. Save heeled shoes for maxi lengths.
Maxi
With the hot weather persisting day by day, maxi lengths come to the rescue, allowing your body to breathe and not restricting movement. Long skirts and dresses offer convenience, style, and elegance. They can be straight, A-line, wrap-around, asymmetrical, draped, or balloon-style.
Maxi skirts pair well with minimalist tops on thin straps, crop tops, and feminine styles with puff sleeves, ruffles, flounces, or ties. There's a common belief that maxi lengths are only for going out. However, basic dresses of this length can be styled with flip-flops, making you feel both comfortable and appropriate.
Maxi and mini skirts are two versatile trends, each bringing unique charm to an outfit. Maxi skirts add elegance and sophistication, while mini skirts bring playfulness.
