The Art of Belonging: Sarah Regensburger’s New Collection at London Fashion Week

What do we hold on to when we move to another country? Language, habits, family stories, patterns familiar from childhood. These connections are at the heart of Sarah Regensburger’s new collection. Presented at London Fashion Week, Diaspora: The Art of Belonging is dedicated to people whose lives span several cultures.

For Regensburger, the subject is personal. Born in Germany with Iranian roots, the designer built her career in London. In Diaspora, she explores her heritage, interpreting traditions through her own experience and the aesthetic of her brand.

Texture takes centre stage. Carpet and tapestry surfaces, intricate patterns and fringe recall household textiles and treasured objects passed down through generations. Combined with layering and avant-garde shapes, these familiar motifs take on a new character. Rich colours sit alongside gleaming metallic head and face jewellery, while henna patterns on the hands complete the looks.

Through these details, Regensburger explores how clothing can hold memories: in a fabric’s pattern, its texture or the way it wraps around the body. Objects associated with home and family history become the starting point for a new wardrobe.

“Because we all belong, no matter where we come from” is the collection’s central message.

Another guiding idea is the Zoroastrian principle of “Good Thoughts. Good Words. Good Deeds.” It extends the conversation to the values, upbringing and care for others that connect us. For Regensburger, these convictions also inform the way she creates clothes. Her London-based brand uses no animal-derived materials and follows a cruelty-free philosophy.

In Diaspora, the designer makes room for every part of her background. Iranian heritage, a childhood in Germany and life in London come together in a single story about finding a home somewhere new while holding on to what matters.
