The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) preserves an extensive collection of music relics and artifacts that showcase the history and influence of rock and roll. Highlights include handwritten lyrics by Jimi Hendrix, stage costumes from legends such as David Bowie and Madonna, guitars once played by Eric Clapton and Chuck Berry, as well as set pieces from unforgettable concerts. The museum’s exhibitions feature rare performance recordings, interactive installations, and multimedia presentations that bring the history of rock and roll to life.
Handel & Hendrix House (London, United Kingdom)
At 25 Brook Street in London, George Frideric Handel once composed his masterpieces, and two centuries later, Jimi Hendrix lived there with his partner. Two geniuses from different eras – classical and rock – bound together by the same address.
Today, the Handel & Hendrix House allows visitors to step into their worlds: to see the interiors, listen to their music at live performances, and attend lectures exploring the legacies of these iconic figures.
Bob Marley Museum (Kingston, Jamaica)
Located in the legendary musician’s former home, this museum offers a deeply personal glimpse into Bob Marley’s life. He lived here from 1975 until his passing in 1981. Visitors can explore his recording studio, where many of his greatest songs were created, alongside personal belongings that reveal his daily life.
Among the exhibits are costumes worn by the vocal trio I Threes, as well as Marley’s Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to him in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to music.
National Blues Museum (St. Louis, Missouri, USA)
Since 2016, the National Blues Museum has been preserving and celebrating the legacy of blues music, with an ever-growing archive of rare photographs and audio recordings. The collection features interactive installations, stage costumes, musicians’ personal items, and documentary footage tracing the story of the blues – from its African roots to the present day.
But the museum isn’t only about the past: live concerts take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, making the space a vibrant hub for contemporary blues.
The list of such museums could go on and on, and we will certainly continue it in future features – because music itself is an essential part of human culture and history.
It reflects creativity, emotions, and the values of different societies, while allowing us to glimpse into the past.
