Pachta gul: how the ornament is used in products

Cotton is a national pride of Uzbekistan. The history of its cultivation on the country’s territory started 2000 years ago. In the nation, cotton is called “white gold”, and fabrics manufactured from it are of special quality and comfort because of its thin fibers.
The ornament «Pachta Gul» – «cotton’s flower» – initially was popular on the dishes: cotton bolls bloomed on the pots, bowls (pialas), plates, and liagans for more than 70 years. Designers successfully picked up the nation’s love for the four-petaled flowers with white fiber balls. Real cotton is used not only as a decoration but the entire collections are dedicated to it.
A traditional blue-white bowl (piala) embroidery from beads can be seen on the basic knitwear t-shirts, the same print can also be on sports clothes. The cotton itself is often seen on suzane stitches. A new round of popularity goes to white “nests”, resembling clouds or ice-cream balls – they are placed on skirts, bags, and headdresses.
