The Italian jewelry house Pomellato hosted the Art & Jewelry exhibition in Shanghai, showcasing more than 100 pieces from its archival and contemporary collections, along with iconic advertising campaigns from its history.

Curated by Alba Cappellieri, professor of jewelry design at the Politecnico di Milano, the exhibition was divided into three thematic decades, highlighting the evolution of Pomellato's distinctive style.

The 1970s: Bohemian chic and artistic influence

The era of freedom, self-expression, and eclecticism inspired Pomellato to create jewelry rich in warm gold tones, sensual curves, and unexpected textures. Influenced by modernist art, Pomellato’s artisans began experimenting with volume, crafting jewelry pieces reminiscent of miniature sculptures.

The 1980s: Boldness, brightness, and striking accents

A decade where fashion and luxury became inseparable from urban culture, the 1980s saw Pomellato embrace vibrant colors, large gemstones, and graphic forms. The designs from this period commanded attention, exuding confidence and glamour. The Pomellato woman of the '80s was fearless, audacious, and independent.

The 1990s: Minimalism and refinement

As the excesses of the previous decade gave way to a new era of understated elegance, Pomellato refined its aesthetic without losing its distinctive identity. Simple yet impactful lines, geometric playfulness, and muted color palettes became the defining characteristics of Pomellato’s creations in the 1990s.

The exhibition placed Pomellato’s jewelry at the center, presenting each piece as an artistic object in dialogue with the surrounding space. Through lighting, textures, and dynamic installations, visitors were immersed in Pomellato’s philosophy, a balance of traditional craftsmanship and innovative vision.
Contemporary installations were a highlight, including works by renowned Chinese photographer and artist Chen Man and AI-generated portraits by Milanese artists Alberto Maria Colombo and Anna Paladini, celebrating the eternal femininity that defines Pomellato.

Smooth lines, vivid gemstone hues, Milanese references, and Pomellato’s bold aesthetic created a continuous dialogue between heritage and modernity.

Sabina Belli, CEO of Pomellato, described Art & Jewelry as a tribute to the brand’s heritage, built on craftsmanship, artistic vision, and a commitment to empowering women through bold self-expression. She also highlighted the exhibition’s role in strengthening Pomellato’s presence in China’s luxury market by fostering deeper cultural connections with local audiences.

Pomellato Art & Jewelry was more than an exhibition of fine craftsmanship, it was a visual manifesto celebrating art, nature, architecture, and female strength. A tribute to Italian design and impeccable taste, the showcase reminded visitors that jewelry is more than adornment – it is a language that speaks of time, emotion, and beauty.
