A Sunny Statement: Pamela Anderson Brings an Archival Carolina Herrera Look Back to the Red Carpet
At the Venice Film Festival, Pamela Anderson attended the premiere of Place to Be in a vibrant yellow Carolina Herrera gown. But the most interesting part of the look is its history: the dress originally appeared in the house’s Spring 2019 collection.
The collection marked Wes Gordon’s first as creative director of Carolina Herrera. The designer reinterpreted the house’s traditional codes, making them lighter and more contemporary, with color becoming one of the collection’s defining elements. The yellow gown, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline, voluminous sleeves and a long train, first appeared on the runway in New York in September 2018.
Eight years later, Anderson brought it back to the red carpet in Venice. She completed the look with fine jewelry and softly waved hair, allowing the saturated color and silhouette of the gown to remain the focus.
The archival Carolina Herrera look continued Anderson’s colorful Venice wardrobe this year. At the same time, it offered another example of how pieces from relatively recent archives can find a new life — and sometimes feel even more relevant than the latest collections.
