Registration is still open for the sixth Samarkand Marathon 2024 charity run on November 2nd and 3rd in Samarkand. This year, the total number of available slots is 6,000.

On the first day, races for children aged four and up will take place, along with a 2 km Nordic walking event. That evening, a large-scale concert will be held, a cultural tradition for all Samarkand Marathon series events. On the second day, runners can choose from several distances: the full marathon of 42.2 km, a half marathon of 21.1 km, as well as 10 km, 5 km, and 2 km races. There will also be a 5 km course organized specifically for participants with hearing and vision impairments.

The ecological initiative introduced by the organizers this season, plogging, will continue in Samarkand. Anyone aged 16 and older can participate in collecting trash along the marathon route, with children joining in alongside their parents. Prizes from event partners will be raffled off.

The race route winds through the historic parts of Samarkand, allowing runners to complete their distances along the city’s central streets, passing iconic architectural monuments and landmarks of the nation’s cultural heritage.

The Samarkand Marathon charity series aims to raise public awareness about the importance of inclusivity in cultural and artistic spaces, promote a healthy lifestyle, and develop sports tourism in Uzbekistan.

You can register for the marathon on the official Samarkand Marathon website. The Cultural and Arts Development Fund of Uzbekistan organizes the event.
