Shavkat Mirziyoyev lays the foundation stone
Construction of the National Museum of Uzbekistan

On August 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the foundation stone for the construction of the National Museum of Uzbekistan. The project is designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando in collaboration with the German studio Atelier Brückner. Covering 40,000 square meters, the complex will unite a museum, library, restoration laboratories, and public spaces. The general contractor is China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). Once completed, the museum will become the largest cultural institution in the country, capable of displaying up to 10,000 exhibits at the same time.
The architecture of the future museum will combine precision of form with poetic spatial design, reflecting a dialogue between the heritage of the East and contemporary global art. It is envisioned not only as a building, but as a symbol of openness, memory, and the cultural renaissance of Uzbekistan. The opening is scheduled for 2028.
