UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand
The agreement was signed at a ceremonial event in France

Samarkand has been officially designated as the host city for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. The formal agreement between the government of Uzbekistan and the organization was signed in Paris at UNESCO headquarters. This will be the first time in 40 years that the conference will occur outside of Paris.
According to presidential aide Saida Mirziyoyeva, this is both a great honor and responsibility for the country:
“It reflects the international community’s genuine interest in our country’s openness, its vibrant traditions and cultural heritage, its rich history, music, and literature. We are promoting our nation through culture and the arts, making ourselves more visible and understood. These connections always transform into economic collaboration, joint projects, and shared ideas,” Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized.
