Blush is back: why everyone is talking about it again
Trends and application techniques

Blush is making a triumphant comeback. And it’s not just about the classic “rosy cheeks” – it has become a full-fledged makeup tool that both professionals and enthusiasts are rediscovering. Peachy glow, blush contouring, rich accents on the cheekbones and temples – modern blush can do much more than it seems at first glance.
The growing interest in the product is confirmed by data: search queries on the topic are rising rapidly, and blush is one of the most discussed makeup items on social media. According to makeup artist Zahar Grinov, more and more people are striving for makeup that looks lively, warm, and natural. Blush helps achieve exactly that effect – in just seconds.
Today it’s applied not only to the cheeks but also to the temples, eyelids, and even the bridge of the nose – to create a harmonious, sun-kissed look in which the skin appears fresh, rested, and healthy.
Formats: types of blush
Modern blush comes in three main textures, each with its own features and advantages.

Powder
- Pressed – a compact option for precise application. Ideal for the classic flush on the apples of the cheeks.
- Loose – provides a light visual effect, especially when applied with a large brush. Often contains shimmer or a satin finish that gives the skin a soft glow.
Cream
Creates a “wet skin” effect, blends easily, and is ideal for dry or mature skin. Does not emphasize flaking, gives the skin a supple, well-groomed appearance. Formats include sticks, tubes, jars, or palettes. Sticks are convenient for sculpting but require thorough blending.
Liquid
Similar to tints or lightweight fluids. Long-wearing, quick-setting, and provide a natural, “absorbed” hint of color. A great choice for long-lasting daytime makeup.
An interesting innovation is a mineral blush that reacts to the skin’s pH level. This type of product adapts to individual features for the most natural result.
How to apply: techniques and tips
Powder blush
Apply with a wide, fluffy brush in soft circular motions. The small brushes included in compacts are not always convenient, as they don’t allow for even blending. To avoid blotches, tap off excess pigment before application.

Cream and liquid textures
Best applied with fingers, a sponge, or a synthetic brush. The choice depends on the desired intensity and shape. For a sharp, graphic effect, use an angled brush. For a natural result, blend with fingertips.
