The Schiaparelli show "Phoenix" opened the Paris Haute Couture Week. Creative director Daniel Roseberry presented the collection in a closed format, opting not to stream the event.
Roseberry drew inspiration from the gala concert held to celebrate the launch of the Ambassadeurs restaurant in Paris in 1931. Even then, Elsa Schiaparelli was an entrepreneur who blurred the lines between fashion, art, and life.
For the gala, Elsa chose a dress with a feathered shawl draped over her shoulders, paying homage to the great ballerina Anna Pavlova. Schiaparelli was often compared to the mythical phoenix, continually reinventing herself and fashion.
In the 2024 couture line, Daniel Roseberry revisited the archives, modernizing textures, colors, and details. A cape resembling wings referenced Elsa's iconic shawl. Shoes created by Elsa in collaboration with Salvador Dali were featured prominently with a corset dress. An homage to the 1952 dress included a black corset paired with a green bow skirt.
