Sport and art through the lens of Mathieu Forget
"Sport in the Air" - Where the heart of sports meets the soul of art
“The artist’s strength lies in being original without losing sight of the original. Mathieu’s images, revolving around tennis, distance themselves from the sport only to return to it in the best way possible,” says Yannick Noah, French tennis champion.
Mathieu Forget, known to many as Forgetmat, is a world-renowned artist and creative director specializing in the art of movement and levitation.
A dancer, photographer, and performer from Paris, Mathieu embodies a new vision of dance that is both digital and real.
He strives to encourage freedom of expression, pushing his boundaries by blending different styles. Also known as “The Flying Man,” thanks to his extraordinary photos and videos that have garnered millions of views, Mathieu challenges the laws of gravity.
Passionate about architecture, Mathieu knows how to showcase the surrounding world by creating surreal and poetic concepts.
As both a photographer and dancer, he places himself on stage in stunning shots that make him appear weightless.
His first art photobook, “Sport in the Air,” was released after 2.5 years of relentless work and creative exploration, in anticipation of the Paris 2024 Olympics. It is dedicated to the synergy between sports and culture, featuring over 30 prominent French athletes.
“Sport in the Air” is more than just a collection of images; it is a testament to the grace, strength, and indomitable spirit of athletes, captured through the lens of two worlds – sports and art. Each photograph in this series transcends the physical prowess of the athletes, revealing their inner artistry.
The “Sport in the Air” series aims to bridge the gap between sports and culture, fostering a sense of unity and mutual appreciation. It is a call to unite people through the celebration of our collective humanity via the universal languages of art and sports.
