The first Bukhara Biennale is to be launched next year
The debut edition will feature the exhibition "Recipes for Broken Hearts"
The Uzbekistan Culture and Arts Development Foundation has announced the first-ever Bukhara Biennale, set to take place from September 5 to November 20, 2025. This unique event will bring together artists and creators from around the globe for dialogue, creativity, and the exchange of ideas in the heart of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage.
The debut edition will feature the exhibition “Recipes for Broken Hearts,” exploring the healing power of art and culture through community engagement. The artistic director and curator of the event will be Diana Campbell, with architectural creative direction by Wael Al Awar.
The Biennale will showcase a fusion of visual, culinary, fine arts, textiles, crafts, music, dance, and the city’s architecture. The exhibition will take place at the Fayzulla Khodjaev House Museum, Miri-Arab Madrasah, Magoki-Attori Mosque, Kalyan Minaret, and Olimjon Caravanserai.
The Biennale will also feature works by interdisciplinary artists such as Gabriel Chaile, Liu Chuang, Antony Gormley, Subodh Gupta, Gulnoza Irgasheva, Darya Kim, Bekhzod Boltaev, Delcy Morelos, Wael Shawky, Marina Perez Simão, and Himali Singh Soin.
