Make the unexpected
The anniversary season of Visa Fashion Week Almaty
The Spring-Summer 2025 season of Almaty’s Fashion Week took place from October 16 to 18. The 10th edition of Visa Fashion Week featured 18 unique designers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia. The central theme of the fashion event was “mysterious mirage,” inspiring each participant to explore the concept of illusion.
The season was opened by the duo of designer Tatyana Yan and trendsetter Yan Ray, who boldly brought vivid colors and creative designs to a chilly October day. Their collection, as a form of self-expression, was an experiment that challenged fashion trends and conventions.
One of the participants in this milestone season was designer Liliya D’ulat from Tashkent. Known for her brand's monochrome palette, she introduced nature-inspired colors and ikat patterns into the new collection.
Making his debut at VFWA was Nurdaulet Dosmagambet, the finalist of the Next Designer Award empowered by Visa. His collection concept was inspired by a Japanese legend of the Sun God and the works of artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The designs also featured deconstructivism, offering a fresh interpretation of Kazakh fashion.
The brand MARIKO presented a collection inspired by Armenian symbolism. Decorative details were crafted using crochet techniques in the form of the “flower of life.” Each piece was infused with the natural landscapes of Armenia's mountainous regions.
Closing the season was a show by Kazakh designer ZHSAKEN, accompanied by a performance from actor Chingiz Kapin. The collection embodied the designer’s signature artistry and sophistication. The variety of prints and textures made the show multifaceted and creatively authentic.
