The first collaborative film screening by Tashkent Film School x ELLE Oʻzbekiston
On December 24, the first private film screening by Tashkent Film School (TFS) and ELLE Oʻzbekiston was held at the Kinoxona Art Cinema
Tashkent Film School (TFS) is an independent school for cinema and visual practices established in Uzbekistan in 2022. It serves as an educational hub where filmmakers from Uzbekistan and Central Asia can develop their skills and create unique projects.

Guests were introduced to the republic’s first independent platform dedicated to showcasing auteur and festival films. The screening featured Luca Guadagnino’s short film ‘The Staggering Girl’ (2019), a vibrant tapestry of New York apartment scenes and Italian landscapes interwoven with the vivid memories of the protagonist, played by Julianne Moore. The film was a fitting choice for the collaborative event, as it pays homage to Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2018 couture collection.

Following the screening, guests enjoyed a public talk with screenwriter and filmmaker Mikhail Borodin, co-founder of TFS, and Malika Tairova, a director specializing in fashion-focused TV projects. The discussion was moderated by Oleg Drobot, CEO of ELLE Oʻzbekiston.

The screening was held in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to TFS’s thoughtfully designed venue, housed in a repurposed residential building inspired by the best European cinema practices and the support of ELLE’s partner, the French café chain Bon!, which provided fresh pastries for the evening’s guests.

This first collaboration between ELLE and TFS is rooted in their shared mission: supporting young talent, fostering opportunities for open dialogue and discussion, and creating an environment where learning, creativity, and innovation can thrive.

Beyond film screenings, TFS runs various initiatives, including the annual educational program Women Watch Uzbekistan, the French Premieres Festival, and regular masterclasses.
